About us
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide youth who are aging out of the foster care system a pathway to post-secondary education and economic social mobility while providing critical wrap-around services that fosters true emancipation.
Our Promise
The H.O.P.E. Emancipation Project Scholarship provides full financial coverage. Through this institutional commitment, 100% of tuition and fees are covered, eliminating the financial barrier to college access.
Scholar’s Commitment
Scholars are not expected to take out loans. While federal student loans remain an option, students are strongly discouraged from borrowing as the institution pledges to meet their full need.
-
- Scholars are required to complete the FAFSA and actively pursue grants and external scholarships to support their financial aid package.
- All FAFSA funds are applied directly to tuition.
- Scholars must honor their Participation Agreement, which outlines academic, behavioral, and engagement expectations to maintain eligibility.
Path to Upward Social Mobility
This model ensures that students who have aged out of foster care can attend college without the burden of tuition debt—provided they uphold their responsibilities and utilize available support services.
Belonging to Blue Bear Nation
A core priority is fostering a deep sense of belonging within the Livingstone College community—affectionately known as Blue Bear Nation. Scholars are embraced as vital members of the campus family, where their presence, voice, and potential are celebrated. This strong foundation of inclusion helps students build lasting connections and strengthens their identity as scholars, leaders, and Blue Bears.
